The Seamstress Cape (travel size)

Hey y'alls! Summer has been a blast and I decided I needed something to spice it up even more...so I made a cape.

I used this uh-mazing yellow liquid lame and cut "The Seamstress" (my friends gave me the nickname) out of turquoise felt.

Gluing on letters!

I made the cape short (a longer one is in my future) so it would travel easy, because you NEVER know when you're going to need a cape.

Pouch for cape. It goes with me in my backpack wherever I go!

Be on the look out! More capes to come...

Gray Vans with Heart

I found these plain, gray (knock-off) Vans at a Buffalo Exchange in Brooklyn for $16 (score!), and decided they needed a little something extra.

Plain old shoes!

I cut hearts out of some old scraps and, using gray button craft thread, sewed them onto the top of my shoes. I also replaced the shoelaces with red ribbon from my stash.

My happy shoes!

Patchwork Blanket

We had this plain fleece blanket sitting in a closet and no one ever used it, so I decided to turn it into a birthday present for my mom.

Plain old blanket!

I cut a bunch of squares out of old scraps and different fabrics I found in our craft closet.

Pinning on squares!

I sewed on all the squares (instead of studying for my Spanish final :/)

I then added ribbon borders on top of all the seams from sewing on the squares.

Appliqued letters

This is my favorite part, the golden heart <3

I found this INCREDIBLY soft fleece (like you wouldn't believe!) at the fabric store and used it to cover the back so you couldn't see all the seams from sewing on the squares (and because it was so soft, I couldn't leave it at the fabric store). I attached the two sides with a nice ribbon border that tied the whole blanket together nicely.

And here it is! Took me three weeks to finish it, but my mom loves it and it looks great!

Happy Birthday, Mom!
