Halloween Sneak Peak

Halloween has long been underway at our house. Costumes are always a production and this year is no exception.  

So, here's a little sneak peak of my costume! Bonus points to whoever can guess what I'm going to be. 

First stop was the thrift store, where I found this yellow sweater. Then I went to the fabric store and discovered these BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES. LOOK AT HOW PRETTY THEY ARE. 

I also purchased the floral fabric (pictured above) and this pink fabric: 

The patterns I'm using for this project are the Colette Aster pattern (here it is, waiting to be taped together):

And Burda 114B (I cannot for the life of me figure out how to rotate this photo to be normal):

I found this pattern in the April 2013 BurdaStyle Magazine (yes, I hoard these magazines, please don't judge). 

So who can guess what my costume is? I'll give you a hint: Netflix.

I'm back, I'm back with more! 

After 5 days in Switzerland, we flew from Geneva to Barcelona. In Barcelona, I found their Design museum, Museo del Disseny, and spent a wonderful day exploring the exhibits.

Instagram Round Up: Paris, France August 2015

Hello again! Sorry for the hiatus. My stored-up posts ran out when school started up again, and it's taken me too long to come back and post! 

For the next couple weeks, I'll be posting photos from my adventures in Europe. A post will go up every Wednesday, and after that we'll see how busy I am with college apps. We might have to switch to every other week for the rest of the school year. 

You'll also notice that this post looks much fancier than the past Instagram posts...I finally figured out how to embed! Yay!

White and Red Lace Skirt

I started this project probably two years ago. I can't remember why exactly I didn't finish it until know, but if it wasn't memorable, then it wasn't a good reason. And that's the truth. 

It's nothing special, just a circle skirt. I tried it on and decided it wasn't really my style anymore. I decided to give it to a friend who I think will enjoy it more. 

Red stretch lace over a white lycra blend. 

Encased elastic waistband.

Yup. That's all there is. It was much shorter on my friend than myself, so we didn't want to risk hemming it and having it end up too short. 

The part of this project I really liked was the red lace. I liked the pattern two years ago and still like it now, so maybe you'll see another project with it! (But hopefully in less than two years.)

Pen Pouch

A classmate of mine commissioned me to make a pouch for his fountain pen. An interesting project, but as most of you know, I'm up for making just about anything. 

He created a fabric on Spoonflower and ordered a sample swatch of it, which was all I needed for the project. 

Button closure, felt lining. The pictures really say everything about it.
